I’ve been working with mothers, newborns and children as a Nanny and full spectrum Postpartum Doula for over twenty years, and Birth Doula since 2014.  My formal birthwork training includes: DONA INT’L BINI BIRTH Doula Training (2014), CARRIAGE HOUSE BIRTH Full Spectrum Doula Training (2022) and the ORGASMIC BIRTH™ Practitioner Trainings (2023, 2024). I am a proud member of the Marin Doula Circle and the Bay Area Doula Network.

My skill and passion in high intensity situations that center primal creativity and transformation is also enhanced by decades of experience in movement, somatic healing, performance, filmmaking, advocacy and community building. I’ve lived many lives in places and professions all over the world; I am insatiably curious and always growing — a seeker and a sage.

As a Birthkeeper I bring grounded Presence, Fearlessness and Love.

T E S T I M O N I A L S

On January 26th 2024 we delivered our first child, Charlotte Kate. As a birth and postpartum doula my self I knew I wanted a birth doula on my side for this journey. The moment we talked to Sophia we knew she was the doula for us. Sophia is warm and kind but also realistic and not afraid to stand up for our wishes, exactly what you need in birth.

I ended up having to be induced at 42 weeks. Sophia helped me work through the emotional aspect of an induction then came to the hospital bright and early to support me. Sophia was the rock keeping my mom, my partner and I together through 35 hours of labor. She helped my voice be heard over the chaos of the labor room and her physical support was amazing, I still joke that Sophia’s foot massages got me through labor.

When it was time to push I was extremely overwhelmed by everything going on. Sophia asked me to look at her, she held my hand and asked me “is there anything you need before you push?” a simple question but it brought me back to earth. It brought my birth back to me.

Sophia truly made our birth perfect, even though it didn’t go as planned. Her endless words of encouragement, physical support and pure enjoyment of her job made her the perfect doula for us.

- Emma M. (I was Emma’s birth doula in 2024)

Sophia was a guiding light, illuminating the path into parenthood with gentle compassion, knowledge and unwavering support through it all. From the prenatal visits to the intensity of labor, Sophia made sure my voice was heard and that my birth wishes were respected. Sophia seamlessly integrated into our birth team, whether it be massage or breathing techniques, her calm presence was key. My husband and I will be forever grateful and cannot imagine this journey without her.

- Emily W. (I was Emily’s birth doula in 2024)

I made the choice to have an at home/water birth for my first child.  Little did I know how intense this journey would be.  Sophia helped me to focus, breathe, and be in the moment while letting go of the pain.  I can honestly say that I would not have gotten through this adventure, at home, without her.  It was a 33 hour labor, 3 and 1/2 of which was pushing and by the end, I was exhausted beyond what I imagined exhaustion to be.  The moments that I felt like I would give up and head to the hospital to get an epidural, Sophia was with me, telling me how much of a Goddess I am and how I can do this.  She sat with me during my most vulnerable moments and made me feel more comfortable than I ever expected to be… naked, nauseous, shaking in pain, feeling exposed - Sophia was my shelter from everything that made me feel uncomfortable.

- Katie (I was Katie’s birth and postpartum doula in 2017)

My husband and I knew we had a special connection with Sophia and that she would be the perfect support for the delivery of our first child. I loved hearing of her background coming from a big family and truly saw her passion in childbirth. Labor was a lot longer than expected... Sophia has magic hands and somehow knew just what a pregnant lady giving birth needed!! She massaged different pressure points that immediately relaxed me especially during super painful contractions. After laboring for almost 16hours and basically only eating ice chips, I caved for the epidural. Only one person could be with me in the room when they were inserting the needle. Look, I love my husband and he is absolutely amazing but when the anesthesiologist told me I had to stay absolutely still even when a contraction came, I had to make the call that Sophia was who I needed during that time. She helped me focus on breathing techniques and kept my mind off of the pain and to be in the present moment. Seriously love her for that!! I am so thankful for Sophia being by our side and the best doula support we could have ever asked for!

- Elizabeth (I was Elizabeth’s doula in 2014)

I have known her my whole life and she has influenced me in a spiritual way. She made me a dream catcher when I was eight. She plays… interesting music, I look up to her so much, that now I start listening to the same songs, plus some Indie. She is an actor and director, every summer she goes to Burning Man, someday, I hope I can go with her. She is such a huge part of my life, she is like a symbol to me. I don't necessarily try to be like her, but I look up to her so much it just happens, now I sort of want to buy a bus, and drive around, with crystals hanging from the ceiling and dreamcatchers blowing in the wind.

- Lucia, age 11 (I’ve known Lucia & her brother for fourteen years, as live-in nanny/friend from 2009-2016)

If you are considering hiring Sophia, or Fia as my 3 year old daughter would say, the answer is you would be crazy not to. Sophia came into our lives right before my now 7 month old son was born. We needed someone flexible and reliable who could seamlessly fit right into our family and Sophia did just that. She quickly bonded with our daughter and soon became her best friend who she was excited to see everyday. Sophia was patient with tantrums and knew how to navigate her big emotions. She was creative in how she would calm her or focus her attention to something fun. Her love for music and art filled our home with beautiful pictures they would draw together or dance parties they would have together. She was incredibly knowledgeable and sweet with our newborn son and was the only one who could get him to fall asleep when he fussed. Sophia will always be an extension of our family and apart of our lives. We love our “Fia”.

- Heather (I nannied Heather’s two children from 2020-21)

Sophia was my nanny growing up and there was never a day that went by that wasn't filled with laughter and learning. Seeing her pursue her passion of caring for others and devoting her life to this cause is so meaningful to me even 20 years later, because I know the talent she possesses and that she genuinely cares about the happiness and success of her clients. Sophia is humble, intelligent, and I can say with full candidness that anyone who is in her care is in wildly capable hands.

- Danny (I started as his “Mother’s Helper” when I was 11!)
